LATITUDES, 4th EDITION
Poetry

Descent and Rise
by Diane Revell

Vertical Divider

The sweet sea grasses and eucalyptus scent
Cause me to linger in my descent
To the moon lit sea with the starry host above.

Where the icy waves await
To pull me into the trough
The trough of deep depression which sucks away all thoughts
All thoughts of sun and happiness, of friends and pleasant deeds
Pleasant deeds now forgotten in a sea of needless misery.

The sweet sea grasses and eucalyptus scent
Cause me to linger, reverse and ascend
From the moon lit sea with the starry host above.

As I recall thoughts of you and your great kindness and care
My thoughts elevate me from the black waves of despair
Towards the silver stars above and a wish to carry on.
