Community Saga - A Genre?
by Lucy L. Jones, Ph.D.
In addition to a self-help book (Feral Fables), I also write a series that I consider to be a "community saga." I don't know if you consider "community saga" to be a separate genre or not, but it's a little different from a regular family saga.
In each book, there is a mystery to be solved, but the series also follows the lives and loves of various members of the community of Piney Falls in Shadowy River County, Mississippi. The series primarily revolves around Pastor Fran Keeton who manages to become involved with the folks in the whole community in several ways.
The first in the series is Shadowy Tales and the second (Washboard Tales) was just published in September. The third in the series (Bayou Tales) will be published in Spring 2023.
