LATITUDES, 2ND EDITION
Poetry

Red Hibiscus
by  Diane Revell

             Red Hibiscus

Background of maroon leaves
     Ruby flowers of captured light
          In morning shine bright

Afternoon petals inward fold
     Dark in their death
          Onto the ground they roll

Leaving behind starshaped pods
In the sun, bleached and drying
Burst with seeds wind sends flying

Seedlings appear where they land
     Leafy growth only shows
          Flowers follow as life unfolds
