UNIVERSAL WOMAN
picked cotton ... spun thread ... made kimchi
harvested rice… prepared collards...tortillas… tofu
carried drinking water from free-flowing rivers
washed the garments … dried them on the rocks
In view of rough-skinned ... hungry ... wide-eyed crocks
UNIVERSAL WOMAN
senselessly mutilated with indescribable pain
cared unselfishly for the baby in her womb
sold the girls at sunrise for the family to survive
secretly cried washed away the preordained guilt
pondered the question why her life was so built
UNIVERSAL WOMAN
seduced by those obsessed with confusion and lust
previous victim accepting her power
allowing her true essence now to flower
able to forgive… releasing the pain she was lent
thunderous histories make their final descent
UNIVERSAL WOMAN
crying at times … expressing vulnerability
encouraging others when she can
offering love…. but with a firm hand
fabulous woman… not giving in to fear
laughing… always spreading good cheer
UNIVERSAL WOMAN
directing and taking control when she must
sharing with world-class leaders that which is just
singing songs of freedom … for justice and peace
jetting to faraway places previously unknown
envisioning an unblemished utopia called home
UNIVERSAL WOMAN
absorbed in dreams of life’s enduring mysteries
letting go the illusion … remembering all is transitory
discarding life’s heavy weights … breathing in and out
no one completes her… she is already complete
The Universal Woman… totally…totally …replete
